This instrument is primarily used for measuring the optical nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refraction properties of materials.
It works by measuring the changes in open- and closed-aperture energy as the material moves through the optical path, while simultaneously measuring the nonlinear refraction and nonlinear absorption coefficients.
